Making Safety Personal Working Group
Our aim is to increase awareness of the risks and to ensure people take responsibility for their actions and ‘Make Safety Personal’. The overall mission for the group is to eliminate fatal risks as a consequence of wrong behaviours.
This is arguably the biggest challenge we have in our journey towards Zero Harm, as we will have to change the culture which currently exists within our business.
Key to changing people’s behaviour is increasing awareness of the risks and we are challenging the way we educate our people and share best practice.
Behaviour is influenced by a number of factors, and as a group we are seeking to educate and challenge these factors to try and shift our culture. These factors include peer pressure, the environment we work in, management influence and risk and consequence awareness.
As a business we need to change the way we approach safety and we are proposing to implement a measuring tool that encourages people to celebrate safety and shift people’s perception from negative to positive.
