Balfour Beatty Plant & Fleet Services has invested £1m to date in new sustainable accommodation units to help customers achieve their Sustainability challenges. These include Eco-site cabins, mobile ‘Groundhog’ towable welfare units, rain water harvesting pods and our flagship Ecolootion self contained static welfare units.
Our Balfour Beatty Eco-site cabins have been designed to incorporate a range of sustainable features such as recycled and upgraded insulation, full double glazing, reactive high efficiency lighting, low flush w/c, waterless urinals and smart meters.
They offer heat loss and energy consumption savings of up to 43%, carbon reduction of 12% and 65% savings in water usage. In addition to this, our cabins are also 90% recyclable and are supplied with a range of Zero Harm features such as low level lifting points.
Our innovative Balfour Beatty Mobile Welfare Units offer an industry leading Energy Performance ‘C’ Rating achieved through 12V LED Lighting, lightweight insulation and composite floor, battery and generator technology.
We are leaders in the industry incorporating full flushing toilet facilities in mobile welfare units. The unit features a rainwater harvesting system that enables the water to be captured and then be re-used to flush the toilet.
Our Balfour Beatty Ecolootion Cabins are powered by 24 Volt on-board batteries to enable all systems within the unit to operate without the generator running. The system enables the unit to have a far smaller generator, which is more economical to run.
This unit provides reduced noise pollution, significant fuel cost savings along with extended service intervals of the generator making this unit extremely environmentally friendly.
The Ecolootion cabin boasts additional unique environmentally friendly features such as:
• Rainwater Harvester which stores rainwater from our unique natural collection device, filters it for toilet flushing, significantly reducing fresh water wastage.
• Waterless urinals which is a innovative system that completely eliminates the use of fresh water for the dual flushing toilet. The use of percussion taps also reduces water consumption.
• Hogloo which is a new concept in effluent management that is safe and highly efficient, removing the need for waste carriers cost and incinerating waste benefiting the environment.
• Telemetry Remote Access which can monitor the location of the unit, usage of generator, burn hours of hogloo, water levels, fuel levels and effluent tank levels.
